HOTEL CURRENTLY CLOSED FOR REFURBISHMENT
The Aggie Grey’s Group has announced that their iconic, key hotel – Aggie Grey’s Hotel & Bungalows – will undergo a complete refurbishment following on from damage sustained by Tropical Cyclone Evan in December 2012.
Scheduled to re-open in 2014, the 152-room property will be upgraded and expanded to one of the most prestigious hotels in the South Pacific.
Currently under re-construction, Aggie Grey’s Hotel will comprise of approximately 177 hotel rooms and Samoan–style bungalows, taking interior design cues from the British Colonial/Plantation style with the tones and designs of a bygone era. Featuring a palette of dark woods, relaxing whites and pale hues, the property will subtly reflect the heritage in a contemporary way.
Plans include a Grand Ball Room offering facilities for 300 delegates, 6 Breakout Conference Rooms, fitness and spa facilities, a hairdresser salon and Gift Shops. There will be two restaurants: one featuring elegant International cuisine and the other, a commanding Samoan Fale building offering Samoan and International cuisine as well as hosting Aggie’s famed FiaFia nights.
The colonial-style lobby lounge will act as a focal point for people to meet and enjoy a
high tea and there’ll be plenty of open spaces available, for private reading or heart to heart conversations, along with a pool with a pool terrace. Guests will be able to enjoy a refreshing beverage from a choice of two bars: a cocktail lounge and a pool bar.
Commented Mr Fred Grey, Owner and Managing Director of the Aggie Grey’s Group, "Whilst we were devastated to see our beautiful hotel suffer so much with Tropical Cyclone Evan in December 2012, we are excited to be able to re-create our grandmother’s dream. Located harbour-front in Apia, where there is a strong demand for upscale accommodation, we are positive that Aggie Grey’s Hotel will cater to this growing segment and stimulate the hospitality industry in the country. You can rest assured, once the property is completed, it will still bear the hallmarks of Mrs Aggie Grey herself and we will still adhere to her notion that our guests will be made to feel that the Hotel is their home.”
Aggie Greys Lagoon Beach Resort & Spa located on the North West coast of Upolu is still open for business as usual.
